Computer Essentials

Going into this class was a great learning experience and widened my knowledge for compuer skills I used to get frustrated with. First going into this course I thought that I was pretty well educated on computers, but I was wrong. I had the opportunity to learn a broad range of experience on Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint that I can now say I am very proficient with. Not only that, but I learned about Internet browsers, input, and output hardware and about the computer software I use everyday! I am very glad that I took this course because this is stuff I will use everyday in my personal and professional life.

Microsoft Word

This is one of the word assignments I did in this course which was more difficult for me. We learned how to use the comments section of word, which I didn't even know existed till now. In the comments you can tel someone else, or someone else can tell you how they want you to edit it after it's reviewed. Also I learned how to use the bibliography section to correctly site references. I felt very acheived after completing this project with a good grade. I have used these things I learned while writing a paper in other classes which made it more professional.

Reflection

This project was one that I was definetly glad I learned. I feel that it was extremely beneficial for me to learn, because it is something I will use in the future. I think everyone should learn these skills, if not in a class, then they should investigate it on their own. It was difficult for me at first, but after studying and practicing, this is something I won't forget.

Microsoft Excel

Microsoft Excel is a program I didn't use frequently. So when I started using it all I knew how to do is type inside the cells and move them around a little. Well did I learn there is a whole lot more tha you can use in excel. I learned how to solve very difficult problems using SUM, MAX, MIN etc... and even the harder ones like VLOOKUP took and IF function. The numbers you put in can actually correlate with charts or graphs you can insert, if you know how to utilize them properly.

Reflection:

Excel was a fun program to learn, I never really used it before and didn't realize how many things I can utilize it for. The math problems were challenging because of the specific formulas you have to put in. But now that I know how to do it, it really makes a big difference in how much easier it can make difficult equations to be. I was very proud of myself for learning all the tools Microsoft Excel has to offer when you know how!

Powerpoint

I did not know how many things you could do and customize to your liking on Powerpoint till having to do this project. Doing the assignments is nothing like making your own presentation perfect. I never knew how to time it, narrate it, or add music and sound till I did took this class. It was a challenging, but definitely worthwhile skill to learn that I will never forget and use frequently in the future.

Reflection:

Aside from the research, I think I spent over 10 hours on the project alone. I wanted to make a worthwhile powerpoint, that illustrated what I wanted my audience to get out of it. The animations, and transitions took the most time to decide what looked best, and to time them just right. It took me a very long time to figure out how to convert it to video to share online. Finally, after I figured it out the music only plays 30 seconds through when I uploaded it to YouTube. I don't know what caused that yet but I am working on a solution. The file is too big too share any other way. I really enjoyed making my cause and all the research I did come alive! It was a really acheiving feeling.
